Glittered Reindeer DIY

I love finding vintage holiday ornaments to add to my Christmas display. A few years ago I saw these beautiful white glittered reindeer, mixed in a display with Shiny Brite ornaments, and thought they looked so magical! The problem with vintage items is that they are hard to find, often pricey, and very delicate. It always makes me upset when I find (or especially when someone else finds) a beautiful vintage piece, and only one person can enjoy the decoration because it is one of a kind. This decoration will fit right into your vintage collection, without hurting your wallet, and all your vintage-loving friends can make these together so you each have one for your Christmas displays!

What you will need:

-plastic reindeer

-white spray paint

-extra fine white glitter

Optional:

-mod podge

-paint brush or paint sponge

Clean the surface of the plastic reindeer.

In a well-ventilated area or outside, place the reindeer in a shallow box. Shake the spray paint can for a good 30 seconds and give the reindeer one coat of paint.

Let the paint dry for about 10 minutes, then flip the reindeer and repeat. After another 10 minutes, stand the reindeer up and spray 360 degrees around, making sure to cover all exposed surfaces.

While the paint is still wet, sprinkle the white glitter onto the wet paint. If you want a thicker coverage, you can wait until the paint dries, and then paint the reindeer with mod podge and cover with glitter. Both processes work, this one is just faster. For this craft, I wanted to have a light coverage, so it glimmered next to lit candles where it will be displayed.

Wait 5 minutes for the glitter to dry, and viola! You now have stunning vintage reindeer that will glisten in your holiday display.
